한달 간 진행한 전화영어 후기와 피드백 정리

회사에서 지원하는 한달간의 전화영어를 마쳤다.

스피쿠스 업체와 제휴를 해서 진행했던 것 같은데, Mobile application 으로만 피드백을 확인가능해서 정말 너무 불편했다. 그래서 나중에 한번에 정리하자 하고 미뤄왔는데 이제서야 정리를 해 본다.

수업은 Business English 에 중점을 둔 클래스였고, 영어를 주기적으로 뱉어내는데는 나름 도움이 되었다고 생각한다.

전화영어는 정말 장기간동안 하지는 못했고 틈틈이 신청해서 하고있는데.. 그냥 전화만 해서는 말하는 연습밖에 안된다. 언어에 대한 능력치가 생긴다기 보다는 어떻게든 뱉어내는 능력이 좋아진다라고 보는게 맞을 것 같다.

항상 수업이 끝나면 교재를 복습하고 어떤 표현을 하고싶은지, 사용하게 될지를 정리해보고 첨삭같은 서비스도 적극적으로 이용해야 지불한 비용을 값어치 있게 쓸 수 있을 것 같다는게 내 생각이다.

나는 영어 전문가도 아니고.. 어떻게든 계속 쓰면서 조금이라도 언어를 편하게 쓰고싶어 하는 사람일 뿐이라 어떻게 해야 좋다 이런말은 못하겠다. 포스팅도 사실 내가 공부하려고 쓰는 글일 뿐이라.. 퀄리티가 영 꽝인 것 같다는 느낌이라 아쉽긴 하다.  그래도 나중에 영어블로그를 만들어보는게 목표라서 잘 해보고싶은 마음이 있다.

피드백 정리

어플리케이션 들어가서 피드백을 보는데 이렇게 상세하게 적어주는 강사도 드물다고 생각했다. 매번 복붙 느낌의 피드백만 받아봤어서 확인도 잘 안했는데, 좀 자세히 봐야겠다는 생각이 들어서 정리를 한다.

1차시

You were attentive in class.  You even clearly conveyed your thoughts. However, remember SMALL should be used when talking about SIZE: The company was small.

내가 수업에 집중하고 있고, 생각을 나름 명확하게 전달하고 있다고 한다. 이날 tiny company 라는 표현을 했었는데 이게 사이즈를 의미하는 것이니 다르게 말해야 한다고 한다.  기억하기로는 I wanted to leave from a tiny company I'd previously worked. 이런식으로 좀 더 큰 회사에서 일하고 싶었다 라는 표현을 하려고 했는데 tiny가 적절하지 않았던 것으로 보인다.

• What you said -> What you recommended
  
  문맥에 따라 다르겠지만, 이전에 말했던 이라는 표현에서 What you recommended 라는 표현도 적절한 경우가 있을것이다.
  
  
• I'm software engineed in a company -> I'm a software engineed at a company.
• ~ explain nicely -> I don't think I can express myself well
  
  I'm not able to explain nicely myself 라는 말을 했는데 이렇게 수정해줬다.

2차시

• My boss doesn't care about the technical things -> My boss doesn't care about technicalties.
  
  관리자가 기술적인 부분보다 운영적인 측면만을 고려한다는 설명을 하다가 이런 표현이 나왔다. 사실 기술책임자만 있다면 관리자는 프로젝트 관리만 하는게 맞는데.. 
  
  
• I'm just junior -> I'm a junior.
  
  원래 말하려 했던건 .. "관리가자 ~한데, 나는 아직 말단이라 맡은 일만 하고있다" 였는데 엄청 짤라서 말했다. 이런 말이 하고싶었던 것 같다.

"Honestly, I don't like his working style though, I'm still a junior who don't have authority so, just working on what I handle."

• I'm working on this project for 3 years -> I have been working on this project for 3 years.
  
  For three years 라는 표현을 쓰려면 현재완료 'have been working'

3차시

• It's kind of medical device -> They are planning to develop a smart medical device
• Probably in August -> The CEO wants them to have the product ready for launch during the third quater, perferably August
• By the end year -> The product will be ready by the year end.
  
  End of this year 라는 표현을 많이 썼는데, the year end 로도 표현이 되는 것 같다.

4차시

• I'm so tired from groundwork to cover these past few days. -> I'm so tired from working around the clock these past few days.
• I'm working on -> I'm working on it.
• Some of them need to search competitor -> Some of them need to search competitors.

5차시

• Do you have prefer brand? -> Do you have a preferred brand?
• I can't get all flavors -> I can't get all the flavors.
• We cannot buy alcohol drinks by that app -> We can't buy alcoholic drinks on apps.

6차시

• I had many meeting to discuss about our operation planning -> I had many meetings to discuss our operational planining.
  
  습관적으로 discuss 뒤에 전치사 about을 사용한다. 나 뿐만아니라 다른사람들도 많이 실수할 것 같기는 하다. (착각일지도 모른다.)  discuss 뒤에는 곧바로 목적어를 사용하자. 네이버 사전조차 이렇게 알려주는걸 보면 정말 너무너무 많은사람들이 몰라서 아닐까 ?
  
  

  

• The purpose was to discuss about exlusive -> The purpose was to discuss the issues regarding the distribution rights with Pharmaco.

7차시

• They will give approvement -> They will approve it.
• They don't share all the things, what they do. -> They don't share all the things they are doing.
• Our team want to have the best thing -> Our team wants to have the best thing.

8차시

• That kind of things are conflict -> That kind of things leads to conflicts
• All the issues was able to be solved -> All the isseus were able to be solved.
• We can have that conference call as many as we need -> We can have a conference call as often as needed.
  
  최대만 많이라는 표현을 many가 아닌 often 으로 빈도부사를 사용해 줬다.

9차시

• He was actually buyer -> He was actually a buyer.
  
  관사는 밥먹듯이 빼먹고 있다.
• We asked the team leader in that team to change the technical leader. -> We asked the team's leader to change thier technical leader. (Alternative)
  
  소유격의 표현으로도 가능. 근데 의미는 정말 잘 전달 되었으리라 본다.
  
  
• I'm just working on coding, making some program. -> I'm just working on coding or making some programs.

10차시

10차시는 노느라 전화를 못받았다.
